Veronica Escobar, Texas's first Latina congresswoman, and Natasha Harper-Madison, the sole African-American woman to run for Austin's city council in 2018, spearhead a coalition of progressive activists. Together, they tackle a legacy of institutional racism and discriminatory policies impacting the border region. Their struggle against immigrant rights violations and land grabs for the border wall unfolds against Texas's complex racial history. This compelling documentary captures the state’s transformation from a bastion of conservatism to a burgeoning liberal and diverse landscape, all while highlighting the looming threat of escalating violence amid this change.
