The Territory

The Uru-eu-wau-wau tribe, an Indigenous group in Brazil, grapples with a shrinking population and cultural erosion due to outside influences. Despite assurances of sovereignty over their rainforest, they contend with illegal logging, mining operations, and land invasions fueled by right-wing political figures such as President Jair Bolsonaro. As deforestation intensifies, the fight for their land transcends local boundaries, becoming an urgent global issue. Their struggle highlights the broader consequences of environmental exploitation and the urgent need to protect vulnerable communities and ecosystems.
