Food production has evolved into a massive enterprise dominated by a few major corporations. SOYALISM examines the industrial journey of pork and the soybean monoculture, traversing regions from China to Brazil, the U.S., and Mozambique. This enlightening documentary reveals the staggering concentration of power among Western and Chinese firms and its repercussions on our food systems. Small-scale producers are disappearing, and landscapes are irrevocably altered. As the system proliferates globally, the film raises critical questions about the environmental consequences of our insatiable demand for soy, spotlighting waste-lagoons in North Carolina and monocultures in the Amazon rainforest.
