Barbara Ostrzeńska-Niechcic and Bogumił Niechcic navigate a tumultuous family saga set against the backdrop of the January Uprising of 1863 and World War I. Drawing from Maria Dabrowska's novel, the narrative intricately explores the evolving fate of the upper-class Niechcic family in pre-WWI Poland. Two intertwining themes emerge: one delving into social history, while the other reflects on deeper existential questions. This adaptation captures the essence of a period marked by upheaval and transformation, highlighting the personal struggles and societal changes faced by the characters.
