Susan Morrow, a successful gallery owner, is unexpectedly sent a manuscript by her ex-husband Edward Sheffield, whom she left two decades ago. Intrigued yet conflicted, she delves into the dark narrative of Tony Hastings, a mathematics professor whose idyllic family getaway spirals into a harrowing nightmare. As Susan becomes increasingly engrossed in the story, it stirs up past emotions and confronts her own choices, blurring the lines between fiction and reality. The tension builds as she grapples with the implications of Edward's writing and the haunting echoes of their shared history.
