In "The Conformist," a timid Italian man, seeking acceptance and a sense of belonging, aligns himself with the fascist regime. He is dispatched overseas with a covert mission: to eliminate his former teacher, who has now become a vocal opponent of the government. As he navigates this morally conflicted assignment, he grapples with his past and the choices that have led him to betray the very ideals he once valued. The film explores themes of conformity, the struggle for identity, and the consequences of political allegiance.
