A tragic incident in Mendocino County, California, in 2018 claimed the lives of seven members from a lesbian-led family of eight. Jennifer Jean Hart, one of the mothers, drove her family off a cliff while allegedly intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level of .102. The documentary, A Thread of Deceit: The Hart Family Tragedy, investigates the harrowing events surrounding Jennifer, her wife Sarah, and their six foster children. While the bodies of Sarah, Martin, Abigail, and Jeremiah were recovered, the remains of Hannah and Sierra were found later, leaving only 15-year-old Devonte unaccounted for.
