Prater

Vienna's Prater serves as both an amusement park and a hub of desire, seamlessly integrating every novel invention and idea into its vibrant atmosphere. Ulrike Ottinger's "Prater" weaves together a rich tapestry of narratives that reimagine this sensory playground as a modern cinema of attractions. The film chronicles the Prater's evolution through interviews with carnies, insights from locals and tourists, and a blend of cinematic visuals. It also explores the site’s significance in technology and culture, drawing on works from notable figures like Elfriede Jelinek and Erich Kästner, alongside music inspired by the park’s legacy.
