In "Bordertown" (2007), American companies exploit the North American Free Trade Agreement by setting up large maquiladoras along the U.S.-Mexico border, employing primarily Mexican women under harsh conditions for minimal pay. Lauren Adrian, a dedicated journalist at the Chicago Sentinel, is eager to report on the Iraq war. However, her editor, George Morgan, redirects her to probe a disturbing trend of murders targeting young women working in these factories in a nearby Mexican bordertown. As she delves into the dangerous investigation, Lauren uncovers the grim realities facing these workers.
