In 1989, five teenagers of color from Harlem were wrongfully arrested and convicted for the rape of a white woman in Central Park. Their sentences ranged from six to thirteen years, until a serial rapist's confession revealed he was the sole perpetrator, eventually exonerating them. The narrative explores a city grappling with decay, violence, and racial unrest, highlighting the hasty conclusions drawn by law enforcement, sensationalist media coverage, and public outrage, all of which dramatically altered the lives of these five individuals caught in a grave miscarriage of justice.
