Director Yoshiyuki Kishi and screenwriter Takehito Minato, known for their work on the boxing drama Wilderness, come together once more to bring Ryo Asai's acclaimed novel to life. (Ab)normal Desire delves into the lives of individuals grappling with societal expectations and their own peculiarities. A concerned prosecutor fears for his reclusive son, a shy saleswoman harbors an unusual quirk, and a student wrestles with unspoken emotions. As they navigate a world that shuns diversity, the film poses a thought-provoking question: could embracing abnormalities be the true path to normalcy?
