Fourteen-year-old Mây finds herself thrust into an arranged marriage as the third wife of a wealthy landowner in late 19th century Northern Vietnam. This striking black-and-white reimagining of The Third Wife eschews dialogue, relying on evocative visuals and a haunting new score to convey the complex emotions and societal pressures Mây faces. As she navigates her new life, the film explores themes of love, autonomy, and the struggles of women in a patriarchal society, creating a poignant and immersive experience that resonates deeply with viewers.
