Eastern Memories

Set against the backdrop of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Finnish philologist G. J. Ramstedt's journey through Mongolia and Central Asia unfolds in this documentary. His memoirs resonate in today's world, highlighting a stark contrast between past traditions and a present dominated by materialism. As sprawling cities emerge from once-vast deserts, the film invites viewers to reflect on the cultural shifts and loss of heritage that accompany modernization. Ramstedt's observations serve as poignant reminders of a rapidly changing landscape and the enduring impact of history on contemporary life.
