The Jump (2020)

Set against the backdrop of the tense Cold War in the 1970s, a routine meeting between an American patrol boat and a Soviet ship takes a dramatic turn when a Lithuanian sailor leaps into the frigid waters, seeking asylum. Crash-landing on the American vessel, he pleads for safety, but the U.S. ultimately fails to protect him, allowing the Soviets to reclaim him brutally. This gripping narrative unfolds through rare archival footage and a powerful reenactment by the defector, Simas Kudirka, illustrating a harrowing journey marked by imprisonment, unexpected fame, and the quest for freedom.
