Barney Greenwald, a cynical attorney, finds himself defending a navy officer accused of mutiny for seizing control of the Caine during a fierce storm. As the court-martial unfolds, Greenwald grapples with the complexities of the situation, leading him to reevaluate whether the crew's actions were a rebellious act or a necessary response to their captain, Lt. Philip Francis Queeg's, erratic behavior. The tense proceedings challenge his perceptions of loyalty, courage, and the thin line between mutiny and self-preservation.
