In 1980s communist Romania, the sole glimpse of Western life comes from nightly broadcasts of *Dallas*. The show becomes a cultural obsession, a shimmering fantasy of wealth and freedom. Captivated by its promise, a young woman dreams of escaping to America, her resolve hardened by the stark contrast to her own reality. *Hotel Dallas* weaves real archival footage with surreal, staged vignettes, blurring the line between documentary and dreamscape, exploring how a fictional Texas oil dynasty ignited a real-life longing for a new world.
