Set against the backdrop of World War II, Gates Trimble Pomfret arrives in London during the tumult of the Blitz with plans to sell his family's ancestral estate. He encounters Leslie Trimble, the estate's current resident, who fervently opposes the sale. Leslie reveals the home's 140-year history and the profound connections shared by their families. As she unfolds the narratives interlaced within the walls, Gates finds himself conflicted, grappling with the allure of financial profit versus the emotional legacy that ties him to the estate and its storied past.
