I Dutifully Report

Set against the backdrop of World War I, this comedy brings to life Jaroslav Hašek's classic, "The Good Soldier Švejk." The narrative follows the endearing and bumbling Josef Švejk as he navigates the absurdities of war, starting from his journey to the front lines. Iconic moments include his misadventures on a train and his notorious Budějovice escapade. Highlights feature Švejk's clever ruse as a faux Russian prisoner and a humorous court trial, alongside a scandal involving Lieutenant Dub. Despite mixed reviews, Steklý's adaptation remains a celebrated portrayal of this beloved literary figure.
