Barefoot Bobby Briggs, once a star running back for the Austin Steers, faces execution after being convicted for his involvement in a deadly robbery at a convenience store. Five years into his sentence, with appeals dwindling, the Steers are poised for a playoff run when disaster strikes—their star wide receiver suffers a season-ending injury. In a surprising move, the Texas Governor grants Bobby a temporary furlough from death row, hoping he can lead the team to victory and secure a spot in the Superbowl, reigniting both his athletic dreams and a controversial debate about justice.
