Set in Hogmanay 1957, a spirited group of Glasgow women—Mrs. Culfeathers, Dolly, Doreen, and the vivacious Magrit—gather at The Steamie to tackle their traditional New Year’s laundry. Playwright Tony Roper's work captures the essence of Glasgow's social tapestry, showcasing how camaraderie makes even the toughest chores more manageable. Amid laughter, tears, and a juicy swirl of gossip, the women's friendships deepen. With standout performances from Dorothy Paul as Magrit and a young Peter Mullan as the whisky-loving handyman Andy, this rendition of the beloved play remains a cherished highlight of Scottish theatre.
