Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy gets a sharp, contemporary update, unfolding inside London’s wealthy South Asian circles. Hamlet (Riz Ahmed) comes home for his father’s funeral, only to be horrified that his uncle Claudius is about to marry his grieving mother. When his father’s ghost reveals he was violently murdered by Claudius, Hamlet descends into a consuming hunt for revenge—stripping bare the corruption within the family’s powerful empire and pushing himself dangerously close to madness.
