Professor Norman Reed's life takes a turn when he brings his enchanting wife, Paula, from an isolated island back to America. As he navigates their contrasting worlds—his grounded in scientific reason and hers steeped in eccentric dance and voodoo—Norman's elitist friends grow increasingly uneasy about Paula's peculiarities. Their invasive gossip and manipulative behavior drive her to tap into her mystical abilities for protection, potentially leading to deadly consequences. Caught between reality and the influence of suggestion, Norman must confront the chaos that unfolds around them.
