Set against the backdrop of one of history's darkest chapters, Nanking recounts the harrowing events of 1937 when the Japanese army invaded, leading to the brutal slaughter of over 200,000 Chinese and the sexual assault of countless others. Amidst this chaos, a courageous band of Western expatriates emerged, risking their lives to shelter and protect 250,000 civilians from the onslaught. Nanking powerfully illustrates the profound influence that a handful of dedicated individuals can exert in the face of overwhelming tragedy, emphasizing the enduring strength of humanity during times of despair.
