Alphonse Tram finds himself entangled in a series of murders he cannot recall committing. His bewilderment drives him to confide in his neighbor, Inspector Morvandieu, who becomes increasingly drawn into the bizarre events surrounding Alphonse. As their relationship deepens, both men become central figures in a web of intrigue and violence, where Alphonse’s lack of memory complicates matters further. The film expertly blends dark humor and existential themes, creating a surreal narrative where the line between perpetrator and victim blurs.
