The Thread offers a compelling look at the transformative role of amateur internet writers in modern journalism. After the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, online sleuths flocked to platforms like Twitter and Reddit, eager to unmask the perpetrators. Their fervent investigation resulted in the wrongful accusation of an innocent man, highlighting the profound consequences of crowd-sourced journalism. Directed by Greg Barker, known for Manhunt, and produced by Jonathan Chinn and Simon Chinn, both acclaimed figures in the industry, this documentary raises crucial questions about the ethics and accuracy of information in the digital age.
