Saving Mes Aynak

Afghan archaeologist Qadir Temori confronts a daunting challenge to protect Mes Aynak, a 5,000-year-old site facing destruction by a Chinese mining company eager to extract $100 billion in copper beneath its ancient ruins. With only 10% of the site excavated, archaeologists believe that further exploration could significantly alter the understanding of Afghanistan's history and Buddhism. As Qadir and his team navigate the complexities of local politics, Taliban threats, and corporate greed, they engage in a desperate struggle to preserve their cultural heritage from imminent obliteration.
