She Stoops to Conquer

Oliver Goldsmith's timeless comedy springs to life during a chaotic evening at a countryside estate. A cunning stepmother, lovestruck couples, a sensible father, and two ill-fated suitors find themselves entangled in a whirlwind of humorous misunderstandings, all orchestrated by the mischievous Tony Lumpkin. This lively adaptation, a collaboration between the National Theatre and Out Of Joint, captures the essence of the play as it was performed live in Bath, following its debut at London’s Lyttelton Theatre. The delightful antics and clever dialogue showcase the enduring appeal of Goldsmith's work.
