Avanti Popolo presents a poignant anti-war narrative, following the surreal trek of two Egyptian soldiers returning to Cairo after the tumultuous Six-Day War of 1967. Among them is a hopeful actor whose most notable performance has been as Shakespeare's Shylock, an ironic twist that underscores the film's themes. With a blend of humor and tragedy, the story unfolds through the eyes of these soldiers, reflecting on their experiences and the absurdity of conflict. Salim Daw delivers a compelling portrayal as the melancholic clown, adding depth to this striking exploration of war's impact on humanity.
