Exploring the themes of youthful romance and the disillusionment of dreams, “Toutes les nuits” reinterprets Flaubert’s “L'Éducation sentimentale” for the May 68 generation. The story follows two childhood friends, pragmatic Henri and idealistic Jules, as they leave their idyllic rural upbringing to navigate the challenges of their baccalaureate studies and the complexities of adulthood. Their parallel journeys highlight the intoxicating nature of first love and the ideological upheaval that echoes the failed revolution of 1848, blending nostalgia with the harsh realities of growing up.
