Set in 18th-century Brazil, the film follows Joaquim, a skilled soldier known for his success in apprehending gold smugglers amidst a declining economy. As a Portuguese minority governs a corrupt society, Joaquim eagerly anticipates a promotion to Lieutenant. However, he embarks on a perilous quest to uncover new gold mines, hoping to secure the freedom of Blackie, his beloved slave. This gripping narrative draws inspiration from the true story of Tiradentes, the inaugural leader of Brazil’s revolutionary movement, highlighting themes of love, sacrifice, and the struggle against oppression.
