A lyrical documentary captures the ill-fated polar expedition led by S. A. Andrée, exploring the harrowing journey and its tragic outcome. Drawing inspiration from Troell's earlier dramatization in "Ingenjör Andrées luftfärd" (1982), the film delves into the dreams and aspirations of explorers pursuing the unknown. Through stunning visuals and evocative narration, it weaves a poignant tale of ambition and human resilience against the unforgiving Arctic landscape. The haunting beauty of the frozen world underscores the risks taken in the name of discovery, ultimately reflecting on the thin line between adventure and desperation.
