Her foray into the adult entertainment sector began serendipitously when she met casting director Jim South, leading to her debut as a nude model and subsequently in hardcore films at the young age of twenty in 1982. Throughout the 1980s, Summer collaborated with prominent directors such as Larry Revene, John Stagliano, and Kirdy Stevens, the latter being her favorite, and became a recognizable name in adult cinema.

After stepping away from adult films in the 1990s, she transitioned to feature dancing and burlesque before moving to Florida, marrying, and eventually working as a paralegal. After a divorce in 2000, she shifted her focus to healthcare.

Summer currently hosts her own program, XXX Porn Star Radio, and manages an interactive official website. In 2015, her legacy was solidified with inductions into the AVN Hall of Fame, XRCO Hall of Fame, and Legends of Erotica, commemorating her significant impact on the industry.
