His 1999 work, *The Biggest Secret*, is frequently referred to as the "Rosetta Stone" for conspiracy theorists.

Before his shift to controversial discourse, Icke was a prominent sports presenter for the BBC and a spokesperson for the Green Party. In 1990, his life took a dramatic turn after a psychic informed him of his purpose as a healer. By April 1991, during an appearance on the BBC's *Terry Wogan Show*, he claimed to be a son of the godhead, a statement he later clarified was misconstrued. He also predicted catastrophic natural disasters, which significantly altered his public perception, transforming him from a respected figure to a target of ridicule.

Despite this backlash, Icke continued to refine his ideas through a series of books released over the next several years, including *The Robots' Rebellion* (1994) and *Children of the Matrix* (2001). Central to his theories is the belief in a global fascist regime controlled by a secretive group of reptilian humanoids, whom he alleges include notable figures like George W. Bush and Queen Elizabeth II. Critics like Michael Barkun have characterized Icke's theories as "New Age conspiracism," while others suggest they serve as a satirical lens through which to examine social realities.
