Sunil Kirpalani Movies, TV Series

Sunil Kirpalani’s path has been anything but linear—a story of engineering, banking, and a cinematic interlude that bookended four decades. Originally trained as an avionic engineer, he was unexpectedly pulled into the world of Tamil cinema when acclaimed director Bharathiraja cast him in *Kadhal Ov... Read moreiyam* (1982), bestowing upon him the screen name "Kannan." Though the film marked a promising debut, its commercial failure steered Kirpalani away from the arc lights. Choosing pragmatism over passion, he transitioned into the banking sector, where he built a steady, decades-long career far removed from the film sets of his youth.

But cinema, it seems, never fully loosened its hold. In a remarkable twist, Kirpalani returned to the screen in *Sakthi Thirumagan* (2025), starring alongside Vijay Antony—a comeback nearly forty-three years in the making. His reappearance was met with curiosity and warmth, as audiences welcomed back a face many had only read about in film history books.

Kirpalani’s journey is a testament to reinvention: a man who traded cockpit schematics for camera frames, then swapped those for bank ledgers, only to find his way back to storytelling. His brief but memorable filmography—two films, separated by a lifetime—speaks to resilience and the quiet pull of an unfinished chapter.
