He has significantly contributed to the sport's evolution over the years, with his surfboards marketed under the Robert August Surfboards brand and produced by Surftech. In 1994, he participated in The Endless Summer II, which revisited the original film's locations, and also appeared in the documentary Step into Liquid, continuing to promote surfing worldwide.
