Dunham is particularly familiar to Comedy Central viewers due to his three successful specials: *Jeff Dunham: Arguing with Myself*, *Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity*, and *Jeff Dunham's Very Special Christmas Special*. He also headlined *The Jeff Dunham Show*, which aired for one season in 2009.

Dunham's comedic style has been likened to a more approachable version of Don Rickles, featuring multiple distinct characters who are known for their politically incorrect and often abrasive humor. Time magazine noted that he has been instrumental in reviving ventriloquism, promoting the craft more than any artist since Edgar Bergen.

Regarded as "America's favorite comedian" by Slate.com, Dunham is the highest-grossing stand-up act in North America, achieving notable success in Europe as well. As of March 2009, he has sold over four million DVDs and achieved more than 350 million views on YouTube, with his character Achmed the Dead Terrorist being especially popular. His *A Very Special Christmas Special* became the most-watched telecast in Comedy Central's history, with its DVD reaching quadruple platinum status shortly after release. Forbes.com listed him as the third highest-paid comedian in the U.S., earning approximately $30 million between June 2008 and June 2009.
