Her debut came in 1959 with the role of Hoài in *Chung một dòng sông*, North Vietnam's first film produced after the French colonial era. The production became a cornerstone of 1960s wartime cinema, and Phi Nga's understated yet powerful performance earned widespread praise, especially remarkable given her lack of formal acting experience at the time.

However, her promising career was curtailed by worsening heart problems. After appearing in *Vĩ tuyến 17 ngày và đêm* (1973), she retired from acting entirely, dedicating her remaining years to teaching at the National Academy of Theatre. Phi Nga passed away in 1985 following a stroke, leaving behind a legacy as both a pioneering performer and a devoted educator in Vietnamese arts.
