Throughout her career, she starred in a variety of films, including "Blonde Fire," "Easy," and "Insatiable," often portraying characters such as housewives and schoolteachers, which set her apart from her peers.

St. James's contributions to adult cinema have earned her recognition, including induction into the AVN Hall of Fame and the XRCO Hall of Fame in 1998. Her influence extended beyond her performances; the character Jessie St. Vincent in the film "Boogie Nights," played by Melora Walters, was inspired by her persona.

In addition to her film work, St. James appeared in photo spreads for notable publications like Hustler Magazine and Swank. She ultimately retired from the adult industry in 1984. Interestingly, she shares her name with another adult film actress who was active between 2003 and 2006, but Jesie St. James remains a distinct and significant figure in the history of adult entertainment.
